This guide provides practical advice to help Legatees and groups take better photos of Legacy activities, events and fundraising efforts. From framing and lighting to choosing the right moment, these tips will help ensure photos are clear, engaging and suitable for use on Legacy social media, websites and publications such as The Torch.

Social Media Post Submission Template

Use this template to share your events, updates and fundraising stories on Legacy social media.

Legacy groups across Queensland are encouraged to share their stories, events and fundraising efforts through our statewide social media channels. This template makes it easy to submit content by providing key details such as photos, a short story about the activity, people involved, and any organisations to acknowledge. Completed templates and images can be emailed to the Marketing and Communications team to help showcase the incredible work happening across Legacy Queensland.

Share stories, memories and updates from your Legacy group for inclusion in The Torch magazine.

The Torch highlights the people, events and stories that make up the Legacy community. This template makes it easy for Legatees and groups to submit articles by outlining the key information needed for publication. Whether it’s a group activity, personal story, milestone or community update, your contribution helps showcase the impact of Legacy across Queensland.

Summer Torch 2026

Summer is a time when our Legacy community comes together to celebrate the season and the friendships that mean so much to us.

In this Summer edition of Torch, you will read about the many Christmas gatherings held across our clubs, care groups and Laurel groups, a beautiful poem written by the daughter of one of our late widows reflecting on Legacy and the Torch, and an update on Legacy Brisbane’s recent office move as we prepare for the next chapter with Legacy House at Greenslopes.

We’ve also celebrated some truly remarkable birthdays, including several centenarians who continue to inspire us with their stories and spirit.

QLD Invitations for Community Consultation – Agency focused on wellbeing

Community consultation sessions are being held around Australia on the establishment of a new agency focused on veteran wellbeing – a recommendation from the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide.

The consultation will be led by an experienced facilitator and hosted by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. The sessions are an opportunity for the veteran community to help shape the new agency, which will be established with the needs of veterans and families at its core.

Sessions will be held over the coming months and will be used gather the diverse perspectives of the veteran community on what the new agency should do, and how it should undertake its responsibilities in supporting the transition of veterans to a rich and rewarding civilian life, as well as supporting the overall wellbeing of veterans and families.

Sessions are in-person and numbers are limited.  Registration is required for attendance.  The specific event location will be provided following registration.

Light refreshments will be available at each session.

As we move into 2025, Legacy is committed to continuously improving our volunteer engagement and service delivery. In late 2024, we conducted a comprehensive survey of our Legatees to assess the strengths and areas for improvement within our organisation. The insights gathered will guide us as we strive to enhance recruitment, training, retention, and organisational culture at Legacy.
